GENERAL MANAGER

ArtsNYS, Inc. seeks to hire a General Manager (GM) to oversee the day-to-day executive function of the agency, in close coordination with the procedures and policies set forth by the Board of Directors. As a nascent organization, the GM will be responsible for all aspects of organizational leadership, with a particular emphasis on the development of networking and support systems, outreach strategies, advocacy, and the cultivation of new affiliates to ensure a broad and representative coalition. The GM will be a self-starter with the ability to absorb and digest information quickly to accommodate a potentially steep learning curve.

The GM is employed by the ArtsNYS, Inc. overseen by its Board of Directors. The GM will be accountable to the Chairperson of the Governance Committee, for day to day operations, and will report to the full Board, as appropriate, for all matters pertaining to organizational activities, services, and operations.

Compensation:
ArtsNYS projects that first-year GM duties generally will not exceed a commitment of more than 29 hrs. / week. Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits may be negotiated upon the second year of employment, conditional on satisfactory performance and demonstrated commitment to the ongoing success of ArtsNYS and its service mission.

Regional Representatives for: Southern Tier, Mohawk Valley, Finger Lakes and North Country

ArtsNYS, Inc. is in the early stages of organizational development. As such, it is seeking candidates for the Board of Directors who are dedicated to the “ground level” mobilization of resources, networks, and community engagement required for effective expansion.

Serving as a Board member for ArtsNYS represents an extraordinary opportunity for any individual passionate about ensuring a robust and accessible arts, culture, and heritage sector in New York State. In addition to the commitment to ensure ethnic, generational, and geographic diversity among Board members, ArtsNYS is also seeking candidates who may provide specific experience, insight, or expertise in the following disciplines: law, accounting, fundraising, state government operations, marketing and IT, or executive-level management in arts-adjacent fields (health, education, commerce).

Furthermore, ArtsNYS seeks new Board members representing different geographies and service regions of New York State. Specifically: Southern Tier, Mohawk Valley, Finger Lakes, and North Country.

Qualified individuals will be able to demonstrate a clear track-record of community service, either professionally or in a volunteer-capacity, that may be brought to bear in the context of this state-wide operation.

ArtsNYS will develop a broad coalition of allies who reflect the demographic diversity of New York State and rich variety of perspectives inherent in the arts, culture, and heritage sector.
